The main aim of the course is to teach the principles of isotope systems and their use in dating rocks and tracing geological processes.

Learning outcome

During the course you will:

  • Learn the basics of isotope systematics and radioactive decay.
  • Get insights in nucleosynthesis, extinct radionuclides and early processes in the solar system.
  • Learn the principles and applications of radiogenic isotope systematics to study geological processes and date rock-forming events.
  • Understand the main features of low-temperature geochronology.
  • Get acquainted with the principles and applications of stable isotope systematics.

Admission
