Earlier this week, we had posted the first half of our final obligatory assignment, Problem Set (3a), which has a submission deadline on Sunday, November 1.

In the lecture today, we have introduced the core notions of Hidden Markov Models and the Viterbi Algorithm; this is enough for you to start working on Problem (3a), so why wait?

I corrected some typos in the slides posted to the course web page after the lecture; hence, please make sure to fetch the latest version.  The screencast is still being processing and will hopefully become available sometime tomorrow.

We further posted reading suggestions for the next several weeks to the on-line course schedule; as always, we would kindly ask that you at least take a good deep look at the relevant parts of our reading list prior to the lecture.

Also today, we have sent everyone who had...

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work on completing assignment 2a. A sample solution will be reviewed at today's lab session, where there will also be time to get started on assignment 2b which is now available in svn or from the course page. The due date for 2b is Sun. 11th Oct. Note that it is important to carefully read the intro text before starting on this assignment.

With exercise 1 due by the end of the day, the next exercise is now available. Download 2a either by doing an 'svn update' in your local copy of the inf4820 SVN repository, or from the exercise page. 2a is due in two weeks, i.e., by the end of Wed. 23/9.

As mentioned in class today the first obligatory exercise is now available. If you've already followed the steps in our getting started guide, you can download the problem set by running 'svn update' in your inf4820 SVN repository. Alternatively you can download it from the course web page. The due date is Wednesday in two weeks, September 9.

Should you find something to be unclear, post your questions to the inf4820 Piazza discussion board, which we're happy to see is already in active use (but bear in mind that posting solutions to exercises is not okay, of course). Also note that the first lab session will be tomorrow, Thursday.
