GEO4260 - Reservoir geophysics
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
This course provides an introduction to reservoir geophysics/seismic with special emphasizes on an integrated and multi-disciplinary approach. The topics are central to those planning to work as geologists/geophysicists within the petroleum industry.
After completion of this course:
- you are familiar with seismic attributes and can carry out AVO analyses using Hampson-Russel software
- you can do calculations based on Gassmann-Biot theory
- you understand the use and basic processing of 4D seismic, 4C (four component) seismic and CSEM (electromagnetic data)
- you can explain the role of reservoir simulation, rock physics and seismic as used in reservoir monitoring.
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.
If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.
Formal prerequisite knowledge
No obligatory prerequisites beyond the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway.
