Requirement for courses on bachelor level
IELTS academic - International English Language Testing System
Minimum Overall Band Score: 5.0
TOEFL - TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition
Minimum Total Score: 60 or 3.5 (from January 2026)

Exemptions
Nominated exchange students from partner universities in some countries will have an adequate command of English and satisfy this requirement with the English they have taken at secondary school in their home country.

Requirement for Erasmus students
The University of Oslo expects that all nominated Erasmus+ students have been evaluated according to the CEFR framework at their home institution.
Nominated Erasmus+ students do however not have to provide documentation of language proficiency.
