Compulsory activities

In the Spring semester 2020, extraordinary regulations apply to absences from compulsory activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

For many courses, UiO requires participation in the form of compulsory activities. These requirements are often a prerequisite for being allowed to sit for the examination.

Examples of compulsory activities may be submission of assignments, compulsory attendance at seminars, commenting on the work of other students or giving oral presentations

See each course page for information about compulsory activities in a specific course.

Extraordinary regulations in the Spring semester 2020

Self-notification in case of absence

In connection with the Covid-19 pandemic, UiO accepts self-notification in case of absence from compulsory activities in the Spring semester 2020.

If you become ill or quarantined, you can send a message to the course's contact point without attaching any documentation.

You can use self-notification of absence for all compulsory activities and all absence reasons.

Failure to fulfill compulsory activities

If you are prevented from carrying out compulsory activities due to illness or imposed quarantine, the faculty may, after a concrete assessment, give you the opportunity to take the examination.

If you are not allowed to undertake compulsory activities due to illness or imposed quarantine among UiO's employees, the faculty will normally give you the opportunity to take the examination.

If you are not allowed to carry out compulsory activities due to circumstances related to corona virus outside UiO's control, the faculty will normally give you the opportunity to take the examination.

Re-sit compulsory activities

If you are covered by these regulations, you may be required to complete the compulsory activities within a certain period of time for the examination result to be valid.
