ITSLP1100 - Introduction to Cognitive Sciences
The course gives an overview of the cognitive sciences and their interconnections. 'Cognitive sciences' is here meant to include psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, logic, computer science and artificial intelligence. The course will attend especially to philosophical questions concerning man and machine: What distinguishes a human being from a machine? To what extent can models from computer science serve to describe human thinking and consciousness?
The student should be able to explain what characterises the cognitive sciences in general, and which problems arise in the interface between the various disciplines.
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.
If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.
