There will be an additional lecture Tuesday 11 May 0815-1000, Eilert Sundt Aud 3. Aanund Hylland will provide a summery and overview of the topics covered in the second part of the course.

Watson's answers to problems 2 and 3 from seminar 5 are uploaded.

I have made available last year's exam problem set, and I suggest that Tuesday's lecture will cover #5 from this as a review.

That means that the seminar will prioritize an adverse selection problem, while I will give priority to the moral hazard model. I might also, if time permits, say a few words on problem 3 in the seminar problem set, so you might want to have a look at that before Tuesday.

(Updated 17:20)

  • Last seminar: May 3rd and 7th. Problem set now available.

  • Last lecture on Tuesday: chapter 8 will not be covered. I will post material for review by tomorrow.

  • Slides from yesterday: now available.

  • Solutions to the problems on my door: copied, on my door now.

  • Seminars. I forgot to poll you on May 3rd vs May 10th. Must be done next time (... if forgotten then, I think the seminar has to be postponed). Please remind me. (And yes I know I wrote "Wednesday" not "Tuesday" in last message.)

(Obsoletes message from yesterday, which is removed.)

  • The next seminar will be postponed, as suggested, to April 23rd and 26th. Problem set as posted.

  • I uphold the suggestion of moving the last Friday's seminar to May 7th. As it may or may not be a bit late to move the last Monday seminar to May 10th, an alternative may be to keep that at the 3rd. It may then be a risk that parts of it may not be covered though. I will ask for your opinion next Wednesday.

  • Due to conflict with a course, next Wednesday's lecture will be 0815--0900 only.

  • Additional problems from the previous text book still available on my door :-)

Slides from March 23rd updated due to errors. Three pages replaced by two. Material changes:

  • Corrected lambda multiplier (and updated conclusions); I suppose you all know the determinant notation.
  • Added an argument why x0=x1 when P risk averse -- it requires S0=S1 (missing from previous version).

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks to the student who pointed out the main error.

In today's lecture, we discussed postponing the two remaining seminars by one week. I have checked, and it seems feasible. I therefore propose to postpone Seminar #5 to April 23&26, and seminar #6 to May 7&10.

I might call it off if I get sufficiently well-founded (or many) objections by next week -- but if one particular day does not suit you, please consider changing seminar. But but please leave me a note if you change from Mon to Fri, as I might need to book a bigger room (which, according to reports, is a good idea in any case).

Furthermore, as posted earlier today:
