Programme structure

The programme consists of:

  • compulsory courses (90 credits)
  • master's thesis (30 credits)

Full-time option

This option runs over four semesters.

4th semester

MAE4090 – Thesis MAE4051 – Selected Topics in Educational Measurement MAE4231 – Research Seminar II: Researcher’s Skills and Professional Communication
3rd semester MAE4090 – Thesis MAE4050 – Current Topics and Debates in Assessment and Evaluation
2nd semester MAE4120 – Item Response Theory MAE4010 – Constructing Measures MAE4230 – Research Seminar I: Researcher's Skills
1st semester MAE4011 – Principles of Measurement MAE4000 – Data Science

Part-time studies

This option is mainly targeted towards people already employed in the sector. Courses run across eight semesters.

After autumn 2019, the part-time option will no longer be offered as a separate programme option.

Students who have permanent residence permits in Norway can still apply for reduced progression. Students who choose to study at a reduced pace have to take the courses in the order described below because the courses build on each other. 

International students who have been granted study permits in Norway on the condition that they study full time cannot be granted reduced progression.

Diploma and degree

This programme leads to the following degree: Master of Science (MSc) in Assessment, Measurement and Evaluation
