SOSGEO4031 – Literature review and research communication

Schedule, syllabus and examination date

Course content

Reviewing literature and presenting literature reviews in oral and written form represent key academic skills, as well as being an important part of knowledge-based policies and public administration. This course introduces students to basic approaches to the review of research, including the different types of reviews such as systematic reviews, scoping reviews, narrative reviews and meta-analysis. Throughout the course, students will learn how to conduct reviews, present their findings in written form, and present these to an audience of peers.

The course includes introduction to AI-tools that are particularly useful for finding and summarizing large corpus of research and compare to other more traditional search engines. We undertake a critical view on how to use AI-tools and show the importance to be aware of the pitfalls and uncertainties in using these tools. A major part of the course will be to conduct a review of research on a topic of your own choice, using AI-tools.
