PSY4323 – Electrophysiology

Course content

The course will provide theoretical and hands-on experience on the most common electrophysiological techniques used in human cognitive neuroscience. The theoretical part will cover different methodologies of central and peripheral nervous system measurements, with the emphasis on electroencephalography (EEG) and time-series analysis. The seminars will feature hands-on experience in EEG data acquisition and analysis, including health and safety in the lab environment, as well as relevant toolboxes and programming skills for basic time-series analysis.

Admission to the course

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

If you are not already enrolled as a student at UiO, please see our information about admission requirements and procedures.

Bachelor in psychology with a focus on cognitive neuroscience.

Completion of the courses PSY4321 and PSY4322.

Teaching

8 x 2h lectures and 5 x 4h seminars.

Teaching is done through lectures that cover the theoretical foundation and five 4h-block hands-on sessions, including laboratory work and data analysis (programming).

Examination

One week home assignment.
