Roundcube ble opprinnelig satt opp for å fungere mot UiO sitt forrige e-postsystem, basert på Cyrus-imapd. Nå er de aller fleste brukerene flyttet over til Exchange, det er kun en liten gruppe som er igjen i det gamle systemet.
For brukere i Exchange fungerer ikke Roundcube spesielt godt. Roundcube er en IMAP-klient, og Exchange har utfordringer med måten den støtter IMAP. Spesielt problematisk er det for brukere med mange/store mapper.
Alle brukere som ligger i det gamle systemet har fått beskjed om endringen per e-post.
From Friday 23 March, the web address for Roundcube will be changed from webmail.uio.no to webmail-old.uio.no. At the same time, webmail.uio.no will point to mail.uio.no (OWA).
Roundcube was originally a service for use with UiO's previous email system, based on Cyrus-imapd. Most users have now been moved to Exchange, only a small number of users are left on the old system.
Exchange has some quirks in how it handles IMAP, and Roundcube is an IMAP client. This means that using Roundcube for users moved to Exchange will lead to a suboptimal experience. This is especially true for users with many and or large folders.
All users in the old email system have been notified of the change via email.
