The grading of AST2110 is now finished and will appear on StudentWeb today or tomorrow. There were 12 students registered for the exam, 1 did not show up. Of the remaining 11, there were 2 A's, 2 B's, 3 C's, 2 D's, 1 E and unfortunately 1 F.

The one who did not meet has the right to delayed exam if he/she was sick and has delivered a medical attestation to the Faculty administration. If he/she wants to take a delayed exam, he/she must register for it on StudentWeb between ca. 20 June and 1 August, we will then arrange the delayed exam ca. 10-15 August. For further information, contact the Faculty study information centre, http://www.matnat.uio.no/studier/

The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics wishes you all a nice summer, and wishes you welcome to AST2120 in the autumn!

If you want solutions to the exercises given for 26 April, please see me in my office (room 403). They were easier than the exercises given for 3 May, but some may still have given somebody some headache. I strongly recommend that you do the exercises for each week, you can learn a lot from them (more than from the lectures)! It is e.g., extremely valuable to really get used to calculating with the quantities we use in astronomy (kpc, arcsec per year, solar masses etc.).

Since nobody came to the exercise session today, and since some of the exercises were quite difficult, my suggested solutions are found here

You should try to solve them on your own (with some help from this solution), they are really good exercises that teach you something about galaxies!

For the project exercise, question c you need the following information which was forgotten: The Moon was in the south seen from Oslo (had hour angle of 0) at 00:30 Norwegian standard time on the 4th of March. The latitude of Oslo is 59 degrees, 54 arcminutes and 48 arcseconds.
