The grading of the final exam has now been completed, and you will receive your grades through the official channels shortly. A grading guideline for the final exam has been posted.

Students who would like to receive their point score breakdown and an explanation of their grade may attend a grade explanation meeting. This will take place at my office on June 23 at 10:00. Please read the solution key, the grading guideline, and your own exam answers carefully before the meeting, so that we can use the time as efficiently as possible.

It seems the link on the subject page about which calculator is allowed on the final exam is not working. Approved calculators for the physics department exams follow the same rules as for the math department. Information is available here:

I have now uploaded the trial exam here, with solutions here. Please try to solve it yourself without any help other than the attached formula sheet, in order to get an idea of what is expected at the final exam. Please contact me if you have any questions. Good luck with the final exam!

In our final lecture on Tuesday May 12, we covered BB84 and the basic idea of device-independent quantum cryptography. This concludes the syllabus.

I have uploaded a formula sheet here. Please review it as it will be attached to the final exam. I have also uploaded an example exam problem here. Please try to solve it to get a sense of what will be expected on the final exam. Next week I will upload a full trial exam, which will include this example problem and is meant to give you an idea of what the final exam will be like.

Next week: On Monday May 18, I will spend the lecture time going through the solution to the example exam problem and discussing how I would grade solutions. Please attempt to solve it yourself beforehand. There will be no lecture on T...

A new version of Problem Set 4 has been uploaded, with a clarifying box in Problem 2. Nothing in the original task or solution was incorrect, and you do not need to check or redo anything—especially if you already solved the set without issues. The box is there because part b allowed several valid choices of detection vectors, and for some of those choices part c did not work as stated.

To keep in sync with the lectures, we have decided to move the last problem in problem set 6 to problem set 7 instead. The PDF files for this week’s problem set have now been updated.

There was some confusion in the group session about the solution to problem 1 e) in problem set 5. Sorry about that. I have added some steps to the solutions, hopefully it is easier to understand now.

In tomorrow's group session, we will start with a brief introduction to classical gates. If you haven't worked with them before, this will be helpful for solving some of the weekly exercises.
