J. S. Bach's Mass in B minor

The Mass in B minor is today regarded as one of Johann Sebastian Bach's greatest masterpieces of sacred music, and as a pioneering festive mass within choral music. The Cæcilia Society will perform the work in its autumn concert. NB! The tickets must be purched within 19 October.

About the work

In 1749, Bach completed this monumental mass for orchestra, choir, and five soloists—one of his final compositions. The Mass in B minor, as it is commonly known, is a complete mass with a Latin text, in which Bach employs the full breadth of the compositional techniques of the era. In this classic work, we experience everything from Gregorian-influenced melodic lines to virtuoso coloraturas in an exquisite Baroque style.
