Richter's Seasons Recomposed with the Oslo Philharmonic

Eldbjørg Hemsing, together with the Oslo Philharmonic, invites us on an extraordinary musical journey as Max Richter's modern interpretation of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons merges the virtuosity of the Baroque era with the hypnotic drive of minimalism.

Om konserten

Vivaldi's The Four Seasons is one of the most well-known classical works of all time and is used in films, commercials, and much more. Few people don't recognise the opening of Spring. In Seasons Recomposed, the German composer Max Richter (b. 1966) has taken Vivaldi's work apart and recomposed it, much like a literary retelling.

This was a common practice in Vivaldi's own time, so one can imagine it is something Vivaldi himself would have appreciated. Little of Seasons Recomposed resembles the original. The music Richter does borrow from Vivaldi is looped and distorted to fit within his characteristically minimalist style.

With Eldbjørg Hemsing as soloist, past and present merge in a musical journey that breathes new life into Vivaldi's most famous work.
