The Botanical Garden at Tøyen was established in 1814 and is the country’s oldest botanical garden. The garden is part of the Natural History Museum (University of Oslo) and contains more than 4,500 plant species from all over the world. In addition to being a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city, where people can enjoy lovely flowers and birdsong, the Botanical Garden is also a place for research and educational outreach aimed at kindergarten and school children as well as students. The Botanical Garden also has an important role in conserving endangered species from both Norway and the rest of the world.

On a guided tour of the Botanical Garden, you will be introduced to various themed gardens, special plants, and the garden’s history and conservation work.
