The 2026 Salary Settlement at the University of Oslo

The local salary negotiations at the University of Oslo (UiO) for 2025 have now been concluded.

How the settlement is organized

In this year’s salary settlement, the state and all the trade union federations have entered into four identical basic collective agreements. Employees who are not affiliated with a trade union are also covered by this agreement.

The financial framework for this year’s pay settlement is 2.7%. The entire financial framework has been negotiated locally. Salary changes take effect from 1 May 2026.

This year’s general pay increase

In August, the University of Oslo and the main confederations Akademikerne, Unio State, LO State and YS State agreed on a general increase for the 2026 salary settlement. This increase was implemented and paid retroactively from 1 May in the October salary payment.

The parties agreed on the following:

  • All employees receive a general salary increase of 2.1%.
  • Employees who are members of Akademikerne, LO State, Unio State or YS State receive an additional general salary increase of 0.3%.

Individual negotiations

The remaining part of the financial framework in this year’s settlement was allocated to individual negotiations, with a negotiation deadline of 31 October 2026. The outcome of these negotiations is now ready.

All employees who have received an individual pay increase will receive a separate email about this.

The salary changes resulting from individual increases also apply from 1 May 2026, and payment will be made during December.

Who is covered by the local pay settlement at UiO?

The settlement applies to all employees who were employed at UiO as of 1 May 2026, with some exceptions:

  • Employees who leave UiO during the period from 1 May 2026 to 30 September 2026 will not receive the general increase. This does not apply to employees who have been made redundant due to circumstances relating to the organisation.
  • Employees covered by the state executive pay system.
  • Apprentices.
  • Employees on unpaid leave for more than one month.
  • Professor II positions.
  • Hourly paid employees.
