The University of Oslo has introduced a new procedure for registering holidays for academic staff. It was partially implemented in 2025, but from 2026 onwards holidays in July will be pre-registered for everyone in this staff category.
In recent weeks, there have been several minor arson incidents at Nedre Blindern and one case in Forskningsparken. All of them were quickly detected and extinguished. The police have opened an investigation into the events. Access card and code is now required to enter the buildings.

4 March 2026 an error occurred in the settings for a security mechanism on Windows machines at UiO. If you are experiencing problems with applications/programs not starting, or that you have a black screen after logging in to the machine, you have been affected by this error. The IT department is working to fix this on the affected machines.
The application deadline for stays during the summer school holidays is 15 February. Applications for stays outside the summer holidays are processed on a rolling basis. The Holiday Foundation’s cabins on Hvaler open at Easter.
1 March is the deadline for applying to the University Kindergartens for year 2025/2026 with start-up in August. The application form opens 1 February.
