Backdated medical certificates

Only in special cases backdated medical certificates can be accepted.

  • Backdating up to 2 days can be accepted in the following cases:
    • The employee has contacted the issuer of the medical certificate on the first day of illness, but has not been given an appointment or been able to attend the appointment
    • The employee has long-term sick leave and is regularly monitored by the issuer of the medical certificate.
  • In the event of backdating beyond 2 days, you must clarify with the employee whether the issuer of the medical certificate has explained this in more detail to NAV.
