About the Committee

The Culture and Welfare Committee (KVU) shall contribute to strengthening the sense of community and belonging to UiO among all employees.

Mandate

The Culture and Welfare Committee (KVU) organises activities and creates meeting places that cross the boundaries between workplaces, disciplines and job categories, so that employees become better acquainted with different parts of the University and with one another. The events may be social or cultural in nature, excursions and special sporting events.

Our cultural offers

Our own events

You may participate in regular events organized by KVU such as the Christmas tree party, 17 May Celebration, Annual Party, Advent Concert or other concerts in the University Aula. We organize UiO’s quiz approximately twice per semester, and guided tours as part of the "Tourist at Your Own Workplace" series about once a month. All our events are announced on our cultural offers page.

External cultural offers

We have also negotiated good discount agreements with other cultural institutions such as the National Theatre, Oslo Nye Teater, Det norske teateret, Char Noir, Oslo Concert Hall, Oslo Philharmonic, Cosmopolite Scene and many more. We continuously work to secure new attractive offers for you as a University employee. All current discounted events are announced on the external cultural offers page.

Support from KVU

If you, as an employee, wish to organize something addressed to a larger group of colleagues, you may apply for funding for this.

The Culture and Welfare Committee (KVU) is comprised of an equal number of representatives of the employer and of the labor organisations, as well as one observer. For the period 1 March 2025 – 28 February 2028, KVU consists of the following persons:
