Data management

PSI follows the central guidelines for data management at UiO, including Routine 6 in the 'Quality assurance system for health and medical research'.

Make a Data Management Plan for your project

A DMP (Data Management Plan) is a document describing what happens with data during and after a project. No particular format is required, but information as specified in 'DMP-template PSI short' is a minimum. It should always give a complete description of data-flow.

Classification and storage

Facilities for storage and processing of research data

  • UiO-server (disc space - personal) - storage and processing
  • UiO-server (disc space - shareable) - storage and processing
  • UiO-server* (disc space - shareable / hotel) - storage and processing
  • Service for Sensitive Data (TSD) – storage and processing
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) – processing
  • UiO-laptop with encryption - processing (temporary storage)
  • Portable device (USB-stick) with encryption - transfer (temporary storage only)

* = Employees can have project folders established under a dedicated PSI Storage Hotel.

PSI-policy is to store and handle all research data on either UiO-server or in TSD. In student projects the supervisor should assure safe data management by facilitating access to UiO-server (or TSD) for their students.

Recordings should be done with the dictaphone app (UiO-Nettskjema), record-functionality in TSD, or via UiO-Zoom on UiO-installed computers.
