The Geosciences Master Seminar 3 is for 3rd semesters students at the master programme in Geosciences, who started autumn 2018. 

The aims of the seminars are to:

i) develop your professional competencies

ii) support you in achieving your goals with your master studies iii) inspire and support you in carrying out your research and

iv) to meet your peers.

The seminars will include hands-on practices, discussions, invited lecturers, social activities, help desks and more.

Subjects such as literature search, scientific writing and research data management - just to name a few - will be part of these seminars.

The deadline for registration is Thursday 17 October.

Masterprogramstudenter i siste studieår inviteres til å være med på jobbsøkerkurs med Karrieresenteret ved UiO. Det er viktig at du orienterer deg mot arbeidslivet før du er ferdig med studiene, og her får du mulighet til å delta på kurs sammen med dine medstudenter.

Du velge mellom 21. eller 23. oktober.

Lurer du på hvordan det er studere på Svalbard og hvilke muligheter som finnes? Du kan tilbringe alt fra noen uker til et helt semester ved Universitetssenteret på Svalbard (UNIS), som tilbyr et stort antall ulike emner på bachelor, master og phd-nivå innen arktisk biologi, arktisk geologi, arktisk geofysikk og arktisk teknologi. Denne muligheten er spesielt tilpasset MAMI-studenter på studieretningen Mekanikk og teknologi.

Aker Scholarship er en stipendordning for studenter som ønsker å ta en master eller ph.d i utlandet. De er veldig interessert i studenter fra MN og holder derfor et infomøte mandag 9. september kl 12:15-13:30 i undervisningsrom 1 i Georg Sverdrups hus

MN-fakultetet vurderer Aker Scholarship som et verdifullt og attraktivt tilbud til studentene, og samarbeider med å arrangere informasjonsmøte og rekruttering av aktuelle kandidater.

NHO sender seks kvinnelige realfags- og teknologistudenter på en uforglemmelig tur til NASA i Houston.

Konkurransen er del av prosjektet Jenter og teknologi, som har som mål å inspirere flere jenter og kvinner til å velge en teknologi- eller realfagsutdanning.

For å vinne må du sende inn en video og forklare "hvilken samfunnsutfordring vil du løse med teknologi, og hvordan går du frem?".

Kriterier: Du må være en kvinne mellom 18-30 år, og være realfags- eller teknologistudent på fagskole, høyskole eller universitet. Du må kunne dra i oktober, og holder foredrag om utdanningen din for ungdomsskolejenter i november. 

Vi håper på mange gode bidrag fra MN-studentene!

Dear student

The Student administration, Department of Geosciences will be closed in the Easter (week 16). We will be closed from Monday 15th of April to and including Monday 22th of April. 

We will be present as normal in the following week after Easter from Tuesday 23thApril. See you then!

The Programme Board at the Department of Geosciences has decided to make some changes in the teaching semesters for the following courses:

Through our UiO-project Geosource we offer 10 students a chance to stay for one month in Belém in Brazil to learn Portuguese at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA).

When: from 5-30 August 2019

This is the second of a seminar series for Geoscience master students given by the Department of Geosciences and the Science Library. The series run parallel with your master studies over the course of four semesters.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing admission process and other deadlines, the administrative procedure (NO: saksbehandling) time is longer than usual right now.

The following applications are currently affected:

  • application for approval of master contract
  • applications for field support

We work continuously to take away, and estimate that we'll be finished within next week (within 22 March).

The University Center in Svalbard (UNIS) offers exciting study opportunities in Arctic biology, Arctic geology, Arctic geophysics and Arctic technology in the summer of 2019. There are courses both at the Bachelor's, Master's and PhD levels. The application deadline for summer 2019 is February 15th.

Please notice that the mandatory course HMS0507 - Fire Safety which is being taught as a 2 hour block in the beginning of each semester, starts next week. The course is mandatory in the master programme.

Students in their 2nd and 5th year on the bachelor- and masterprogramme, respectively, received an email for a time ago with an invitation to answer a questionnaire - Studiebarometeret. For those of us working with student administration, this questionnaire is quite important and we urge you to use this questionnaire to give us feedback on your student life.

It is also used to rank the GEO-education at the University of Oslo, and compare it with other academic institutions in Norway. 

The questionnaire is national and this is your opportunity to raise the quality of your education. 

The Department of Geosciences wish to raise the response rate, and will give the student council at the department (Geofaglig Fagutvalg, GFU) NOK 2500,- if the response rate is raised above&nbsp...
