Som planlagt avslutter PluriCourts – senter for forskning om internasjonale domstolers legitimitet 31.12.2023. Dette «senteret for fremragende forskning» (SFF) ble etablert i 2013 av Geir Ulfstein og Andreas Føllesdal med støtte fra Norges Forskningsråd. Gjennom årene har det utforsket flere dimensjoner av legitimitetsstandarder, maktfordeling, uavhengighet, og ansvarlighet blant ulike internasjonale domstoler og tribunaler.
Den flerfaglige tilnærmingen har vært en sentral del av PluriCourts, hvor jurister, statsvitere og filosofer har samarbeidet tett for å forske på internasjonale domstolers legitimitet.
Selv om senterets ti år lange mandat nå avsluttes, vil noen av initiativene fortsette under Institutt for offentlig rett.
Aktiviteter som Ph.D.-kurs om internasjonale domstolers legitimitet og Ryssdal-seminar-serien vil leve videre og bidra til å forme fremtidige forskere og bidra til fakultetets dialog med norske dommere om forholdet mellom nasjonal og internasjonal rett.
Videre vil forskningsinitiativet om forholdet mellom internasjonal og nasjonal rett bli videreført under forskergruppen for internasjonal rett.
Og flere av koordinatorene fortsetter med egne prosjekter og aktiviteter ved Universitetet i Oslo: Daniel Naurin som leder for Arena, og Christina Voigt og Ole Kristian Fauchald ved Institutt for offentlig rett, hvorav sistnevnte har tatt over som instituttleder.

As planned, PluriCourts - the Center for Research on the Legitimacy of International Courts will conclude its activities on December 31, 2023. This ‘Norwegian Centre of Excellence’ was established in 2013 by Geir Ulfstein and Andreas Føllesdal with support from the Research Council of Norway. Over the years, it has explored various dimensions of legitimacy standards, separation of powers, independence, and accountability among different international courts and tribunals.
The interdisciplinary approach has been a central part of PluriCourts, where lawyers, political scientists, and philosophers have closely collaborated to research the legitimacy of international courts. Even though the centre’s ten-year mandate is coming to an end, some initiatives will continue under the Department of Public and International Law.
Activities such as the Ph.D. courses on the legitimacy of international courts and the Ryssdal seminar series will persist, contributing to shaping future researchers and fostering the faculty's dialogue with Norwegian judges on the relationship between national and international law. Furthermore, the research initiative on the interphase between international and national law will be continued under the research group on international law.
Additionally, several of the coordinators will continue with their own projects and activities at the University of Oslo: Daniel Naurin as the head of Arena, and Christina Voigt and Ole Kristian Fauchald at the Institute for Public Law, the latter of whom has taken over as head of the department.
